Jules Shepard: Gluten Free Cooking Expert

I am really excited to welcome Jules Shepard as a resident expert here at Parenting Aspergers Community (you can see her below with her 2 children).

Jules will be adding more of her delicious gluten-free recipes every month, for all members to benefit from.

I am sure you are already aware of the potential benefits of a gluten-free diet for children with Aspergers.

But if not then there's an excellent article all about it at: http://www.autism-help.org/intervention-casein-gluten-free.htm

And without further ado here's ...

A little information about Jules

Noted gluten-free author, baker and mother of two, Jules Shepard has been adhering to a delicious and nutritious gluten-free diet since  1999.

Her secret?

Not settling for bland, dry, crumbly food. Instead, Jules perfected an all-purpose flour that allows her to turn existing  recipes into gluten free ones!

Thanks to Jules' flour, recipes handed  down from mother to daughter, swapped with friends, found in books and  magazines all can remain the part of your family's diet that they've  earned.

With Jules' no-compromises approach to cooking, you and your family can reap the health benefits of a gluten-free diet easily.

Jules' first cookbook, Nearly Normal Cooking for Gluten Free Eating  has done well since it was first published…and continues to be among  the most popular gluten-free cookbooks available.

She consults with  families with dietary restrictions, has appeared on numerous TV and radio programs and is a noted speaker and cooking demonstrator.

She also has recently published a second book, a month-by-month reference for people making the transition to eating gluten free.

Written from  her perspective as a celiac patient, the book, entitled, The First  Year: Celiac Disease and Living Gluten Free is applicable to anyone endeavoring to eat gluten free.

So clearly Jules has a wealth of experience to bring in this area and it's great to have her on board. Directly below here are recipes supplied by Jules ...

Making Your Kitchen Gluten & Casein-Free in Seven Easy Steps
As you make your transition to your new gluten and casein-free lifestyle, one of your first jobs will be to make significant changes in your kitchen. Of course, you can predict the importance of having the right ingredients, but let's take a step back even further than that ... . . . keep reading
Alternative to Jules All Purpose Floor
Jules has given me her original homemade recipe formulation for all purpose flour (not exactly the same as my premixed patent-pending Jules Gluten FreeTM All Purpose Flour which is available at http://www.julesglutenfree.com), but if you like to make your own flour blends, this is a great mixture to have on hand for all your gluten-free cooking and baking. Please be sure that each ingredient you buy for this mix is made in a certified gluten-free facility with certified gluten-free ingredients: . . . keep reading

Southern Cornbread
Southern Cornbread I absolutely love cornbread, and I grew up in the South eating it made with sugar. I often hear back from readers who feel they must inform me that I'm making my cornbread wrong because my recipe calls for too much sugar or any sugar at all. Apparently, cornbread is one of those things people feel passionately about - I know I do! Make it how you will, adding as much or as little sugar as you like, but don't knock my sugared recipe until you've tried it! Ingredients ... . . . keep reading
