Here's what people benefiting from our Aspergers advise are saying ...

"I subscribed to this Community about a year ago in hopes of finding support and sharing experiences with other parents who are also given the challenge of nuturing a teenager/young adult who has been given the two-edged gift of Aspergers.

I have found immense rewards of being allowed to be part of this Community - mostly in articles, antedoctal reports from other parents and the always helpful comments and suggestions of Dave Angel.

If you think that your family are all alone in this big old world struggling with something you don't understand, the Parenting Aspergers Community is a lifeline."

"The Parenting Aspergers Community Web site has helped me with my difficult journey as a parent of an Asperger child. It is comforting to know that when I have a question or having a problem with my Asperger son that I have an incredible resource at the tip of my fingers.

I can post my question or problem on the Parenting blog for all the Parenting Asperger Community members who have Aspergers children also, to view and respond to my question or problem. Within minutes I usually have some great advice from parents whom have had the exact problem with their child and has given me invaluable advice from their experience.

Also David Angel the Founder of Parenting Aspergers Community will always monitor the advice given and give his expert solution on what I need to do to address the problem. I can honestly say that I get more out of Parenting Asperger Community website than what I would ever get from my son's Psychologist or Psychiatrist.

This website is an incredible resource and worth the membership fee ten fold! You won't be disappointed but pleasantly surprised at all the website offers. All the best on your journey"

I have noticed that my child's skin color goes pale before difficult days. Why is that?
I have noticed that my child's skin color goes pale before difficult days. Why is that? Children with Asperger's Syndrome carry around a lot of stress, anxiety, and frustration due to the characteristics of the condition. The lack of social awareness and communication skills, inflexibility, and obsessive nature all contribute to this frustration. Imagine living in a world that you cannot understand that moves too quickly, changes too much, is too noisy, and too bright. Sounds overwhelming, does it not? . . . keep reading
Has changing a child's diet really helped treat Asperger's?
Has changing a child's diet really helped treat Asperger's? For thousands of parents of children with Asperger's, diet controls and eliminations are a reason to rejoice. The benefits of changing a child to a special diet far outweigh the added work and expense. While not a cure for Asperger's Syndrome, special restrictive diets can eliminate symptoms that are aggravated by food allergies or sensitivities. You can find personal testimonies from families affected by Autism on the Internet, in books and magazines, and at your community's Autism support organization. . . . keep reading
What are some of the natural alternative treatments that can be used to help with Asperger's?
What are some of the natural alternative treatments that can be used to help with Asperger's? Many families choose natural biomedicals, vitamin and mineral supplements, and other homeopathic remedies to combat Asperger's. Treatments such as these can be a bit controversial even though several research studies and trials have proven that they are beneficial for some children. Trials show that many of these natural remedies improve the symptoms of Autism in as many as half of the participants. That may not sound very promising, but a 50% chance of improvement sounds pretty good to a lot of parents. It could make all the difference in the world for your child. . . . keep reading

Aspergers Health Issues - Do you have any material on how to get through an annual doctor visit with an aspergers child? He is 10 and goes for his physical every year, which means the doctor has to check his private parts, he giggles and will not stand or lay still for her to get a good check. What can I do to ease this for the doctor and my son. We always have a talk before we go about what the doctor checks, and he knows its coming. He just can not stand to be touched there.

Aspergers Health Issues - My son is 10 and daily wets himself, sometimes several times a day and at least once a week he has the other kind of accident. I never yell at him, I provide depends for him to wear and I've taught him to put his own laundry in the washer but will this battle ever end? I remind him when he is home to go potty every 2 hours and he'll still have accidents. The teasing is happening at school and he only has one more year at this particular school, if I could help him with this issue before he goes on to another school, I'm sure he'd be greatly relieved. I have him on a completely sugar free diet, although natural sugars like fruit are still in his diet. Any ideas or success stories would be greatly appreciated.

Aspergers Health Issues - Have you any information about Dimethylglyceride and a combination of supplements. Aspergers Health Issues - I have Medicaid and there is no treatment for my child except through the county and they are backlogged two years. We are only receiving school counseling. It is a nightmare. Do we have any rights to appeal? Medicaid is wonderful when it works. Because of this, each state has developed their own guidelines for eligibility and services. Children with disabilities are usually accepted into the Medicaid program as their primary health care coverage . . . keep reading
Aspergers Health Issues - Just wondering if you have any suggestions as how you can help me with my six year old daughter who has just recently been diagnosed with Asperger's and anxiety disorder. On top of this she has experienced retentive encoperesis and since being toilet trained has only opened her bowels on four occasions on the toilet. I do currently see a continence nurse but, at this stage she only goes of a night in her bed so the nurse thought maybe we could try and make her go during the day by using laxatives. This has lead to higher levels of anxiety so that if she needs to go during the day she will scream for up to over an hour on end until she vomits, it is awful. Have any information about any bowel issues with children with Asperger's or any suggestions?

Aspergers Health Issues - Aspergers Sleep Strategies
Aspergers Health Issues - Aspergers Sleep Strategies Sleep can be complicated for people with Aspergers. Unfortunately, sleep disturbances tend to start at a very young age and remain a problem over the years. When the parents of a typical child lament the struggles of a poor sleeper, they can eventually look forward to a time of restored rest. This is not always so for the parents of a child with Aspergers. It often takes planning, perseverance, and some serious strategizing to find that restful state. Common sleep strategies include . . . keep reading
